FAQ

What exactly is a ‘micro-school’?
A small, private learning environment, often described as a modern take on the one-room schoolhouse, that prioritizes personalized instruction and student-led learning, operating outside the traditional school system. It is a non-accredited private school which is just a fancy word for an interest based homeschool curriculum with smaller class sizes. At A4 Academy, our student to guide ratio is 15:1 and we have guides (trained traditional school teachers) who will be present to guide the student-athlete, but the academic portion of the schooling is primarily student-led learning at their own pace.

What if we find after attending A4 Academy that our child is better suited for traditional schooling?
We understand that not every schooling model works for every child. We will maintain a ‘transcript’ at A4 Academy of classes completed for your child so that you may take that to your school of choice for re-enrollment. Some schools may have your student do an entrance placement exam to make sure they are at grade level, but we find that this rarely is the case.
-
Does my child have the opportunity to play in high school with A4 Academy?
KHSSHA allows middle school and high school students to play sports through their neighborhood school. We are happy to help facilitate this - connecting families with the appropriate contacts to make it happen.
-
Is this a club specific athletic academy?
While we have connections with almost every top club in Wichita for all sports, our club isn’t affiliated with any one specific club. We guide and train student-athletes in all sports from all clubs.
-
Does my child have to be an elite athlete to go to school here?
Absolutely not. They can come in at whatever level they are currently at, but through our time I can almost guarantee they will become elite athletes.
-
What if my kids don’t plan to play sports in college?
While for some, that’s the main goal is to play as high level post high school sports as they can. For others that’s not the case. Being athletic and participating in sports teaches amazing character traits, life lessons and it helps the student-athlete maintain a healthy lifestyle.

How strict are you on the hours they attend?
Parents have the flexibility to drop off or pickup whenever is needed for their family. At the start of your time with A4A, you will commit to a schedule and even though times are super flexible for your family the cost will remain the same.
In the event you don’t go full time with us, it is expected that the student-athlete is doing their school work at home with their parents.
Full time isn’t the only thing we offer - so please find what works best for your family and your situation here. -
Do you offer training options in the Summer?
Breaks are good but you also don't want to lose momentum or stall progress and we understand that. While the academic portion of our academy pauses in May for Summer break, student-athletes will still be able to train weekly with our elite trainers either in AM or PM sessions for a discounted price with priority scheduling.
Summer prices TBD.
